Victory in the Christian life is no secret at all, yet many believe living as a victorious Christian is something mysterious or for the elite few.
Unfortunately, the battle between right and wrong, good and evil, will always be at war within us. Despite our best efforts, we will always be strugglers. But Christ enables us to overcome wrong. He gives us the power to do what’s right.
In the church where I grew up, hypocrisy was rewarded well. I learned early that looking right and sounding right was all I needed to get by. But if ever I started asking tough questions, or stepped out of line, it was like climbing Everest on a scooter. I thank God for parents who were real, who taught me that God looks past the outward appearance.
