David and the Ark

Artwork for David: A Man of Passion and Destiny

Once David became the king of Israel, he desired to re-establish the name and worship of Jehovah in the conscience of the nation. Under Saul, the Jews had become negligent in their spiritual walk. Because the favour and protection of Jehovah were inseparably linked with certain tangibles (burnt offerings, observing the Sabbath, and revering tabernacle furniture), the king determined to secure the ark of the covenant and reinstate the significance of the tabernacle…placing the ark in the midst of the people in Jerusalem.

This chapter of Scripture involves all that transpired in moving the ark to the capital city and David's response to its presence.
