November 2019 Ministry Letter

Dear friend,

What was the best invitation you ever received? Perhaps it was an invitation to attend a special event. Or maybe it was an invitation to receive an award honour. It could even have been an invitation to meet someone special or important.

Throughout our lives we receive all kinds of invitations—some are inconsequential while others are significant and we feel privileged to receive them.

One such special invitation occurred long ago but yet, even today, it stands out as one of the most extraordinary of all. I’m referring to the birth of Jesus Christ and the invitation from God through angels to meet Him as the baby in Bethlehem. “And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger” (Luke 2:12).

Talk about a significant invitation and an extraordinary message! An angel appears to lowly shepherds on a Bethlehem hillside, inviting them to meet the Saviour of the world, and that is followed by a choir of thousands more angels! This was not an invitation they considered declining. The shepherds went to Bethlehem, found Jesus, worshipped Him, and afterwards returned to their lives as changed people.

Jesus continued these invitations throughout His earthly ministry. He invited the weary to rest in Him, the lost to find their way in Him, and the thirsty to be satisfied in Him. He invited the sick, the blind, and the lame to be healed. He also invited people to follow Him, be His disciples, and join in ministry with Him. His invitations were invitations to change, be changed, and make a difference in others’ lives.

The invitation the angels made to those shepherds so long ago to meet Jesus is a standing invitation. And not just at Christmas but all year. As much as in Jesus’ day people today are weary, lost, and thirsty. They need to be invited to follow Him, be His disciples, and join in ministry with Him.

This is where you and the ministry of Chuck Swindoll and Insight for Living Canada come in. Through your financial gifts and faithful prayers, we are able to deliver God’s message inviting people to seek and meet Jesus. And with your ongoing support, we will continue delivering this wonderful invitation.

Can I count on your continued partnership in extending Jesus’ invitation to all Canadians?

One donor told us, “I give because there are eternal benefits. The sound biblical teaching is so valuable, so important. You never know who is listening or who will turn on the radio, but you can make sure it's always there.”

God’s appeal to meet Jesus is only found in the pages of Scripture. That is why we focus on explaining the Bible. It is through God’s Word that people meet Him. We want to help people understand the special privilege and gift that is given to all and extend God’s invitation to them.

One woman who responded to God’s invitation wrote us saying, "I asked the Lord into my life with Dr. Swindoll, listening to the radio message. I was very much ’down’ at the time and that was the best decision I made in my life. Thank you and God bless you and your ministry."

Many others have responded as a result of this ministry and yet many others are still waiting to hear this great message of hope. The need is great.

Please give generously so together we can ensure Christ’s invitation is available to all.

Because of Christ,
