Let’s continue seeing lives changed!

Dear friend,

“Are we there yet?”

August was always a special month for my family growing up. Every year for many years, our family vacation consisted of all seven of us piling into the old 1960 Pontiac Laurentian. Then my dad, obsessed with making as few stops as possible while travelling, would drive straight through from Saskatchewan to British Columbia.

Of course, for us as small kids the novelty of travel quickly wore off and we tired of the games our mom thought up to keep us occupied. We’d get restless and begin to take turns asking the inevitable question, “Are we there yet?”

And what was the usual inevitable reply? “Soon. We’ll be there soon.”

Think with me about the word “soon.” It’s the most imprecise concept in the world. How long is soon? An hour? A day? A year? One hundred years? One thousand years? We might think a day is soon, but Scripture tells us, “But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day” (2 Peter 3:8). To a kid travelling in the back seat of a Pontiac halfway across the country, a day is like a thousand years too!

The Bible teaches that the Lord will return soon. Paul wrote, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” (Romans 16:20). John closed off the book of Revelation by saying that God, “has sent his angel to tell his servants what will happen soon” (Revelation 22:6). And Jesus said, “Yes, I am coming soon!” (Revelation 22:20).

Are we there yet? The answer is—you guessed it—soon.

In the meantime, Jesus reminds us, “We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work” (John 9:4). We have been assigned the task of sharing the Gospel, making disciples of all the nations, and teaching them to obey and follow the Lord (Matthew 28:18–20).

This is where you and Insight for Living Canada come in. Together, we are carrying out the task the Lord assigned. Through your continued gracious financial support, and our resources, God’s Word goes out in print, online, and on the air. The Gospel is being shared, disciples are being made, and people are obeying and following the Lord.

I believe you support Insight for Living Canada because you understand the importance and urgency of the task. You know that apart from hearing and obeying the truth of God’s Word, people will be lost. And you know Insight for Living Canada can reach homes in Canada that you personally never will be able to reach.

Maybe you already plan to give this month but if not, I ask, will you give so that together we can continue carrying out this important work?

How long will it be until our work is done? Soon.

“And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

Are we there yet? Not yet, but soon. Every day that passes brings us closer.

Almost there,

Steve Johnson
