Your humour is not over, keep enjoying it
Books make us think. You should be reading two, three, five, six books a year just to keep the mind alive, deliberately in various fields, outside the realm of religion, along with your reading in the realm of spiritual things. Keep fresh. Keep in touch. Watch the New York best-seller list. Read a few of those. Talk to people who read.

While talking, discuss ideas and events more and people less. The sorriest kind of conversation is people talk. Your mind doesn’t get old, keep developing it.
Earl Radmacher’s written a little book called You and Your Thoughts. In it he says, “The human mind is a fabulous computer. As a matter of fact, no one has been able to design a computer as intricate and efficient as the human mind. Consider this: Your brain is capable of recording 800 memories per second for 75 years without ever getting tired. I’ve heard some people complain that their brains are too tired to get involved in a program of Scripture memorization. I have news for them. The body can get tired. The brain never does. A human being doesn’t use more than two per cent of his brain power, scientists tell us. And, of course, some demonstrate this fact more obviously than others. The point is, the brain is capable of an incredible amount of work and it retains everything it takes in.” Your mind never gets tired! Keep developing it. Keep reading. Keep talking with people who read. Stay in touch with the real world.
Your humour doesn’t end when you hit 55 or 60 or 70 I don’t know of a single more essential companion for the journey of life than a good sense of humour. And I don’t want to be around those who don’t have one. Sometimes I have to be, but it’s for a very brief period of time. I make sure of that. People with a good sense of humour are contagious. They’re exciting, they’re alive, they’re fun! And there’s no greater therapy in my life than laughter. Let me level with you. A sour, crotchety old man or woman is one of the crowning works of the devil. And nobody wants to be around you if you’re like that.
