Twenty-five years of commitment to the success of anything these days is cause to celebrate. A silver anniversary is very much the exception rather than the rule. Twenty-five years of marriage is considered remarkable. Twenty-five years dedicated to the same employer almost unheard of. And twenty five years of ministry dedicated to the teaching of God’s Word…priceless.
In that period of time, ministry has not always been easy or what we'd anticipated. Challenges have abounded and sometimes they felt like millstones around the neck of the ministry. On a few occasions, inklings of despair have crept in. But never have we questioned the importance of our mission, "Bringing the Truth of God's Word to Life."
We have adopted an interesting perspective at Insight Canada. When faced with the inevitable millstone in ministry life, rather than tremble under the weight of unwelcomed circumstance, we embrace our circumstance as "an opportunity." I don't say this in jest. These are actually the words you will hear us use: "We have an opportunity." It's really all about an intentional attitude, turning our millstones into milestones.
Even today, in the midst of economic challenges, we are seeking opportunity despite uncertainty. We believe the message of hope that we share as Christians is never received as more relevant than when people are actively questioning their misplaced trust in the world around them. This is an historic opportunity for Christians to respond to a needy world by investing in the message of God’s economy of hope and salvation.
Each of us is faced with a choice: a choice to wallow in uncertainty or to seize the opportunity to offer profound, innovative, and life-changing ministry. Let's turn this millstone of anxiety and uncertainty into a milestone, a marker of spiritual victory!
Looking ahead to the next 25 years, Insight for Living Canada, along with committed individuals across our country, will continue to invest in bringing God's Word of truth to life. I challenge you to join us in this mission, seizing the opportunity, as together we offer God's timely message of hope and life.
